Meet the Team: Why Quality Staffing Matters at Care for Kindies
Focus of the Month – June: NQS Quality Area 4 – Staffing Arrangements

At Care for Kindies, our focus for June is on Quality Area 4 of the National Quality Standard (NQS): Staffing Arrangements. This area recognises that a high-quality early learning experience starts with qualified, passionate, and well-supported educators.

Effective staffing goes beyond simply having enough people on the floor — it's about creating a professional, consistent, and collaborative team that works together to support each child's wellbeing, learning, and development.

The Importance of Quality Area 4

NQA4 focuses on ensuring that staffing arrangements:

  • Enhance children’s learning and development
  • Promote continuity of care and relationships
  • Meet the required educator-to-child ratios
  • Reflect a strong commitment to professional standards

When staffing is consistent and well-organised, children feel safe and secure. They build meaningful relationships with the adults around them — which is the foundation for all learning.

Who’s Who in the Team?

At our Margaret Street centre, we’re proud to have a team of diverse and experienced educators who each bring their own strengths and passions to the learning environment.

Here’s a look at some of the educator roles you’ll find in our team:

  • Certificate III Educators – These educators provide hands-on care, assist in planning learning experiences, and support the day-to-day routines of the centre.
  • Diploma-Qualified Educators – With additional training and knowledge, they take the lead in planning, documenting, and delivering educational programs.
  • Early Childhood Teachers (ECTs) – ECTs have a university qualification and play a key role in leading curriculum, mentoring other educators, and aligning learning programs with the Early Years Learning Framework.
  • Support Educators & Trainees – Many of our staff are also studying while working, developing their skills in a practical and supportive environment.

Each team member brings their own unique energy to the centre — from creative arts to science and nature play — helping children learn through a rich and varied curriculum.

Spotlight on Manal – Our Educational Leader

At the heart of our Margaret Street team is Manal, our Educational Leader (EL). The EL role is essential in supporting high-quality practice and pedagogy across the centre.

Manal works closely with all educators to:

  • Guide programming and planning
  • Ensure learning environments are thoughtful, engaging and aligned with best practice
  • Support continuous professional development
  • Encourage reflective practice and innovation

Her leadership helps create a culture of learning not just for the children — but for the educators too. With her support, our team continues to grow in confidence, capability and cohesion.

Why It Matters

Behind every meaningful learning experience is a well-prepared, well-supported educator. By investing in our people, we’re investing in the quality of care and education we provide every day.

This month, as we shine a light on Staffing Arrangements at all 3 of our Childcare Centres, we celebrate the dedicated educators who show up with heart, knowledge and care — and we thank them for the incredible impact they have on our children’s lives.
